The Ranch House at 7,000 feet in the Rocky Mountains assembles the vernacular forms of local ranches - sheds, barns, granaries - into a home place that is rooted to its place by those connections. The passive solar design brings the winter sun deep into the house while excluding the summer sun. Rough local materials combined with energy efficient structural insulated panel construction result in a place with one foot in the past and the other in the future.
